Did Floyd Schofield Lose His Heart and Duck Shakur Stevenson?
Virtually on the eve of his biggest fight, #2 (WBA) and #13 (WBC) ranked lightweight fighter Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield (18-0, 12 KO’s) has pulled out. Instead of facing WBC 135-pound champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KO’s), Team Schofield apparently have flown from the Saudi Arabian battlefield and are headed back to America.
This news came by way of cryptic social media posts from Floyd Schofield Sr., Kid Austin’s father and trainer. While this comes as a gut punch to many fans, honestly it’s not a total surprise. Over the last several weeks, Team Schofield have spoken about several fantastical sounding occurrences happening during camp.
This ranged from their passports being damaged right before traveling to the fight to the police being sent their way with a tip they were selling drugs. Now Schofield Sr. has alleged that Kid Austin was debilitated by some crippling cream that a shady masseuse applied. Only time will tell if blood reports or further details will substantiate these claims.

LEADER OR LEMMING?
For their sake, it would be beneficial if some further scientific findings can support their story. At the moment, the near Ocean’s Eleven level of coordination required is a bit farfetched. At this point, Stevenson would almost be a Dr. Claw level cartoon villain sending this many back-to-back henchmen to keep Schofield from showing up. It could be true, but this is a whopper.
For good measure, Schofield Sr. threw Victor Conte under the bus by suggesting it was his SNAC products used in the would-be poisoners lethal lotion. Wild card, mental health poster boy and one time-drug cheat “King Ry” Ryan Garcia has made it vogue to vilify anything related to Conte.
TIME WILL TELL
After first blaming his failed drug test on a litany of other reasons including ashwagandha contamination, and a whole other strength and conditioning coach, Garcia eventually got around to blaming Victor Conte. So far, finger pointing at Conte has not won Garcia any battles in the boxing world or the court house. Let’s see if Team Schofield fair any better in the boxing world and the court of public opinion.

Team Schofield has talked plenty of trash this far in. Ducking this fight, especially if in this manner, would be devastating. Without question, receipts will be needed.
In the meantime Shakur Stevenson will have to face a yet-to-be-determined replacement foe.
