“Hit Man” Charlo Claims Demetrius Andrade Doesn’t Want to Fight
After years and years of trash talk, could we finally be getting a very long overdue showdown between WBC 160-pound champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (32-0, 22KOs) and WBO champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (31-0, 19KOs)? If you heard what Charlo said, then it’s definitely possible.
The WBC champion went live on social media and rattled off some of the names he wants to fight, which included Andrade. As most know, he was set to face Maciej Sulecki on June 18 but was forced to withdraw due to a back injury. There is currently no word on when Hit Man will return, or even if he will still face Sulecki. Although, according to the WBC champion himself, he wants to face Andrade next!
“I want to fight Demetrius Andrade next, so y’all niggas, stop talking shit. He doesn’t even want to fight.”
At this point, the fight should happen as there are few obstacles on the road. Each currently lacks a scheduled opponent as they are recovering from injuries. While Andrade has the WBO title, that could change soon. He has been ordered to face Janibek Alimkhanuly yet has shown no interest in that fight. If he elects not to fight him, he will be stripped of his title.
Boo Boo recently called for a fight with middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. With Andrade moving on from long-time promoter Eddie Hearn, he has the ability to join PBC, where the big fights he has been seeking await him.
It’ll be interesting to see if Andrade responds to Charlo. Let’s hope this fight can happen before the year is up.
