Davis Is Not Buying Canelo Alvarez’s Reason To Avoid Crawford
Lightweight contender Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis (10-0, 7KO) calls out undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for not wanting to fight unified welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford.
Social media is buzzing as a video has been posted of Canelo (60-2-2, 39KO) speaking on Box Azteca, explaining why he has no intentions of fighting Crawford (40-0, 31KO).
“There is no fight with Crawford. Now Imagine Crawford, a welterweight at 168lbs. . .I have everything to lose and nothing to gain. If I win, people will say he was very small.” Translation
Canelo Alvarez
In most cases, Canelo would be correct. However, Crawford is considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. In addition, several boxing fans believe that Bud possesses the boxing ability and ring IQ to pull out a victory.
Alvarez’s statement officially dismisses the rumor of a potential Crawford fight as a possibility, after facing WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo on May 4.
EXCUSE OR LEGITIMATE?
Some feel Alvarez is using the size difference as an excuse. The Businessman is of such a mindset. While speaking with FightHype, Davis stated that the undisputed champion has offered up an excuse.
“Sounds like excuses to me. Canelo you’re a hell of a fighter. You’re a hell of a fighter bro, like real shit. I just feel like that was an excuse to not fight another great fighter.”
Keyshawn Davis
Like it or not, Davis has a valid point. Canelo had no problem giving unified junior middleweight Jermell Charlo a beat down in September 2023. (hyperlink #3). On the other hand the undisputed champion has a little bit of a point.
There are a certain number of fans that dislike Canelo and would discredit the fight if he were victorious. Yet, others will say he is ducking the unified welterweight champion. So it’s a case of damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
