Davis Aiming for Business Not Pleasantries Against Jose Pedraza
Lightweight contender Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis (9-0, 6KO) is on a mission as he takes on two-divisional champion Jose “Sniper” Pedraza (29-5-1, 14KO). The Businessman enters this bout with a clear intent on destruction.
In 2023, Davis’s remarkable performance in the boxing ring earned him the Prospect of the Year honors from 3Kings Boxing. Eager to maintain the momentum, the Virginian is actively seeking a title shot.
Ready for Battle
In a candid interview with FightHype, Davis expressed his eagerness to engage the Puerto Rican fighter right from the opening bell.
“I just can’t wait for this Pedraza fight because maybe he’s gonna get me out of my comfort zone. Like I said, I’m coming in the first round. I’m fighting this nigga, and I’m not even playing.”
Acknowledging Pedraza’s age and mileage at 34 years old, some boxing enthusiasts might question giving Davis full credit if victorious. Yet, he remains unfazed by fan opinions and is determined to inflict pain on the experienced two-divisional champion.
“The only thing I know I’m going to do is, I’m going to come out the first round, and Imma fuck Pedraza up from the first until whenever it ends.”
Despite facing criticism for his lackluster performance against Nahir Albright in 2023, the top-ten rated contender seems to have found renewed motivation. Whether this newfound intensity is beneficial or detrimental remains to be seen.
Attacking from the opening bell might play into Pedraza’s hands. However, Davis might be better off using his boxing skills against the crafty two-division champion.
The boxing community will be tuning to witness all the action live on ESPN from Las Vegas on February 8.
