Quincy LaVallais Gunning for a Major Upset of Xander Zayas
On the outside looking in, super welterweight boxer Quincy “Chico” LaVallais (12-2-1, 7 KO’s) has a major mountain to climb in his next fight. This is because on March 19, LaVallais will duke it out with red hot boxing prospect Xander Zayas (12-0, 9 KO’s). Zayas, 19, was the youngest boxer to ever be signed by his Top Rank promotional company.
Thus far in his fledgling career, the young Puerto Rican has passed every test placed in front of him in dominant and spectacular fashion. Let LaVallais, 28, tell it, the gravy train is about to come to a screeching halt! The question is though, does Chico have the skillset to topple the budding star?
UPSET MINDED
If we are being honest, LaVallais winning this upcoming bout is a rather tall order. To begin, Chico is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to Nolbert Casco. In fact, LaVallais is 2-2 in his last four outings. Even worse, Chico has never fought an opponent with more than ten prizefights and a winning record. Despite this, LaVallais is convinced that it will be his experience that will carry him to victory.
“I feel like my experience will take a good toll on this. I don’t feel like he is fully developed to be a 154-pounder. I feel like he’s a good fighter but I am going to take him to that different level, like to show him this is a different ball game!”
Provided that LaVallais can emerge with the “W”, this would without question be the biggest win on his professional resume. So, let’s see what happens when these two pugilists slide in the ring with one another.
