Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez to Collide in All-British Battle!
As 3Kings Boxing reported was likely to happen, light heavyweight fighters Joshua Buatsi (17-70, 13 KO’s) and Dan “Super” Azeez (19-0, 13 KO’s) have agreed to face one another. The near inevitable news was made official by Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom as he revealed to Sky Sports. Now Buatsi, ranked #1 (WBO), #1 (WBA), #2 (WBC) and #3 (IBF), will collide with Azeez, ranked #2 (WBA), #3 (WBO), #3 (WBC) and #5 (IBF), in an all-British war.
“Both sides have agreed to fight each other.”
In the pursuit of glory however, these two will have to put their warm feelings aside. This is because it’s well documented that the two professional bruisers are longtime sparring mates and good friends. Nevertheless, the chums aim to bludgeon one another in order to climb to the next level of success. Hanging in the balance is the prestige of being named the mandatory challenger to WBC light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.
Both have fought just one match apiece this year, but Azeez has been a bit more active. He competed three times in the previous two years whereas Buatsi fought just once in 2022 and twice in 2021. Given their skill, backstory and the pressure of a title shot hanging in the balance, Buatsi versus Azeez should almost certainly be one entertaining showdown.
