Erickson Lubin v Sebastian Fundora in talks for spring clash!
It appears that a very tantalizing junior middleweight tilt could be finalized for the spring. #1 ranked WBC contender and former world title challenger Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (24-1, 17KOs) is in talks to face #4 ranked WBC contender Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (18-0-1, 12KOs).
If finalized, the two fighters will be vying for the WBC interim junior middleweight title. The fight is being eyed for the months of March or April.
In Lubin you have a guy who can not only box but also turn your lights out. Especially If you go back and watch his last fight against former unified junior middleweight champion Jesion “Banana” Rosario in June of this year. You’d see how he systematically broke the former champion down with vicious power shots to the body en route to a sixth round stoppage.
As for Fundora, he’s all action, which brings entertainment to fans, but also leaves him very vulnerable considering his major defensive liabilities. His last ring outing, earlier this month against Sergio Garcia, showed the clear defensive issues he has. It also showed that he possess major heart. However, in order to defeat Lubin, it’s going to take more than that. The once beaten former world title challenger is skilled and highly motivated; a dangerous combination for whoever has to step in the ring with him.
Be as it is, this fight has the potential to be an entertaining tussle as the styles should mesh nicely. The power of Lubin vs the pressure and punch volume of Fundora. The winner will be in line to face the winner of the Jermell Charlo-Brian Castano 2 undisputed rematch in late 2022.
