Oscar De La Hoya Takes Ryan Garcia’s Latest Outburst in Stride
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya took a lighthearted approach in addressing recent comments made by top junior welterweight prospect “King” Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20KO).
The feud between De La Hoya and his fighter is well-documented and often impossible to digest. In 2023, the boxing world saw their outbursts and rants play out live on social media. These two have a weird working relationship that has resulted in the two parties filing lawsuits against each other.
King Ryan accused his promotional team of wanting opponent Oscar Duarte to be victorious in the build-up to the fight. It prompted an immediate response from De La Hoya expressing concern about Garcia’s lack of focus on the fight.
HERE WE GO AGAIN
Well, fans aren’t surprised with the recent social media outburst by King Ryan. After De La Hoya updated fans of a possible opponent for Garcia in former unified champion Jose Ramirez, the Californian quickly rejected the fight.
Garcia wasn’t done, and made it clear it’s him against the Golden Boy CEO. His call-out didn’t go unanswered, except this time it was met with laughter. De La Hoya took a more playful tone in response with a laughing emoji at the end of the message.
“@RyanGarcia just please don’t hit me in my abs, I just got them done.”
Oscar De La Hoya
It was a good reply by the Golden Boy CEO. Yet, boxing fans are growing tiresome of watching these two air out their grievances. Garcia’s playbook, whenever he is unhappy, seems to be to attack his promotional team. With the possibility of great fights on the horizon, De La Hoya and Garcia need to work together if they want to make an impact in 2024.
