Povetkin Wants a Couple More Fights With Matchroom Before Retirement

Alexander Povetkin: The Exit Strategy

The Former WBA regular heavyweight champion looks to be setting up his exit from the sport. Povetkin’s promoter, Andrey Rabinsky hinted that Povetkin may work with Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn for a couple of fights before retirement.

At age 39, it’s interesting to see what path he takes. Would he be interested in fighting the likes of Dillian Whyte or maybe Derek Chisora? He has previously worked with Eddie Hearn against David Price which resulted in a fifth round knockout victory.

Additionally, it’ll be interesting to see how he’d perform under more stringent drug testing. This business pairing on the surface seems to make a lot of sense with Hearn looking to expand his DAZN app.
