Ryan Garcia Promises Claressa Shields a Knockout in Sparring

It’s no secret that ultra-confident undisputed middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (14-0, 2 KO’s) has sniffed around for a showdown with elite male boxers for a number of years. The Michigan native is on the books for pursuing a clash with the likes of Gennady Golovkin and Keith Thurman. Now, Shields has her crosshairs centered on “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KO’s).

While both recently attended a group session going live on social media, the notion of their sparring with one another came up. Therein, King Ry assured his willingness to put her down, if they ever met in the ring.

“When I hit you, I won’t go easy. I’m going to hit the switch and really knock you out and then wake you up! I will literally hit you in your temple so bad you won’t even know what hit you.”

It will be interesting to see what flurry of words and potential actions come from the growing feud. Shields appears to be 100% committed to testing her theory of going toe-to-toe with a top tier male boxer. In terms of Garcia, we will have to see.

Over the past several months, King Ry has been a raging volcano of outlandish statements, troublesome antics and consistent vulgarity. In keeping up with this outlandish ways, Garcia has continued to make grandiose posts, insulted George Kambosos’ fiance, and become fettered by an on-going PED scandal.

Garcia has yet to vindicate himself of the recent violations that he’s been flagged for. So, we will also have to see if he honors his agreement to join T-Rex in a spirited sparring match. For better or worse, if this came to pass, there is no doubt that a Shields versus Garcia sparring match or exhibition would garner a massive amount of attention!
