Leo Santa Cruz eyes Gary Russell Jr and Josh Warrington unification bouts

WBA featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz who’ll return Saturday February 16 against Miguel Flores, is eyeing a big 2019.

Santa Cruz, the overwhelming favorite going into his fight with Flores is slightly looking ahead towards a unification. In particular WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr and IBF champion Josh Warrington.

Either fight would be welcomed by fans and media who’ve been craving to see both Santa Cruz and Russell clash. Warrington proved his worth with back-to-back wins over former champions Lee Selby and Carl Frampton, therefore, his name being mentioned also generates excitement.

Given the high pressure and work rate of both fighters, Warrington/Santa Cruz could make for a more exciting bout.

Nevertheless, Santa Cruz has to handle business first against Flores on February 16 in order to keep the intrigue of a possibility of either fight happening.
