Claressa Shields Wolfing With Savannah Marshall on Twitter!
Undisputed middleweight world champion Claressa “T-rex” Shields is no stranger to Twitter beefs. Lately, she has been at it again. Only this time, the heated tweets have a legitimate chance of evolving into an actual first quarter 2020 showdown.
As the month of June was coming to close, T-rex found herself beginning a back and forth spat with UK super middleweight, and one-time Saul “Canelo” Alvarez victim, Rocky Fielding. The ordeal began to unfold following Demetrius “Boo-Boo” Andrade’s one-sided scrapping of Maciej Sulecki.
After the lopsided victory, Fielding commented on a DAZN tweet that he was willing to face Andrade next. It was at that point that Claressa took a shot at Fielding. Naturally, Fielding responded and thus their back and forth began.
Twitter Jabs
During their public ranting, Fielding had the occasion to bring up super middleweight Savanah “The Silent Assassin” Marshall. During her near flawless amateur career, Marshall is the only fighter that Shields ever lost to. Having been tagged in a number of the posts, it didn’t take long for Marshall to join the cyber wolfing.
Unperturbed with the situation, Shields issued a few well-placed digs into Marshall, then got professional. Dropping the wordy squabble and rehashing days gone past, Shields offered to fight Marshall in the first quarter of 2020.
The Flint, Michigan native is presently on schedule to face Ivana Habazin later this year, but assures she would be ready to rumble early in 2020.
Not only did T-rex offer to face the Silent Assassin in 2020, she indicated that she would be willing to travel to the UK to make the bout happen. For whatever its worth, when the unified middleweight champ brought up fighting in the ring, the back-and-forth went cold.
Provided that Shields prevails in the Habazin prizefight, in which she is the overwhelming favorite, a showdown between T-rex and Marshall would be a really fun fight.
Most times, the frivolous bickering on Twitter is just fodder for jokes and speculation. This time however, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that these battle-tested ladies’ war of words leads to literally flying fists.
