Claressa Shields Pushes for Baumgardner to Face Caroline Dubois

Three-divisional undisputed champion Claressa Shields called out unified 130-pound champion Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner for being a hypocrite. Furthermore, The Bomb’s response to unified 135-pound champion Caroline “Sweet Caroline” Dubois made absolutely no sense at all.

After defeating Terri Harper to become the unified champion, Sweet Caroline told Fight Hub TV that Baumgardner would be easy work.

“I know that given the opportunity, I would run through Alycia.”

It seems that this comment got under Baumgardner’s skin because she quickly responded via video on social media. She had a lot to say, but one particular comment raised an eyebrow among boxing fans.

“I’m at 130 pounds. I’m at super featherweight, that is my weight class. Have I moved up to 135? No, I have not. So, why are you calling me out? You’ve got three girls who have belts at your weight class.”

REVISITING THE PAST

Shields quickly stepped in with a history lesson, reminding the unified champion of her past inquiry about wanting a fight.

In addition, Baumgardner questioning Dubois’s callout sounds extremely hypocritical considering how she repeatedly called out the much-heavier Shields. The reality is that all fighters have name-dropped the top names in the sport at some point in their career. She can’t have it both ways.

What makes her words sound even more hollow is the fact that her upcoming opponent, Bo Mi Re Shin, was defeated by Dubois in 2025.  Lastly, Baumgarnder, in the past, was eager to call for a fight with Katie Taylor, Chantelle Cameron, and Amanda Serrano – all fighters who are not in her division. As pointed out by 3Kings Boxing senior writer Michael Wilson Jr., it’s disappointing to see Baumgardner’s reluctance to make a fight fans would love to see.
