Shields Wants Winner of Gabriels v Miller Bout
For boxing enthusiasts, it should come as no great shock to hear that undisputed middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (10-0, 2 KO’s) would love to face the potential winner of Hanna “La Amazona Black” Gabriels (20-2-1, 11 KO’s) versus Raquel “Pretty Beast” Miller (10-0, 4 KO’s). While it is not official, Miller and Gabriels hope to square off with one another in their next at bat.
If that bout does come together as their teams hope it will, T-Rex would love to have a shot at the victor. Shields and La Amazona Black already went head to head with one another on June 22, 2018 in the first female prizefight to headline a SHOWTIME broadcast. Beyond being a historically meaningful fight, the match turned out to be one exciting event.
STEP TO THE PLATE
Since that 2018 battle waged in Detroit, both Shields and Gabriels have engaged in a continuous war of words. Looking past their open animosity, T-Rex does rank the Costa Rican fighter very high in terms of skill and this is precisely why she would welcome a rematch.
Provided that Miller and Gabriels do mix it up, something that Shields is very skeptical about, the Flint, Michigan native would love to dance with either. This is in large part due to her having gone to verbal war with the Pretty Beast in the same fashion that she has with Gabriels.
“I would love to fight the winner out of Hanna Gabriels and Raquel Miller IF they have enough heart to fight each other. Because it seems like everyone want to go at the champ, but nobody wants to actually earn their stripes. Like I fought against Hanna Gabriels, I fought against Christina Hammer , I fought against Tori Nelson, I fought against Franchon Cruz, some heavy-hitters to get where I am at!”
HAVE SOME PRIDE!
Out of all the back and forth, fussing and bickering between them, the biggest pet peeve for Shields regarding La Amazona Black is her insistence to hype up her 2018 loss. That, more than anything, has T-Rex wanting to shut her mouth once and for all.
“My promoter Dmitry[Salita] offered her a two-fight deal where we would both fight and then we would fight again next. She went and signed with Lou DiBella. And that was her fault, and my promoter was offering probably more money than what Lou was. But she wanted to go where she was protected, which I understand. I think Hanna Gabriels is actually a good fighter, but I can’t stand a fighter that boasts about losing!
It doesn’t make sense to me! You came in there and knocked me down the first round, but you got beat up nine rounds! Yeah you fought back harder than everybody else, but that don’t take away the fact that I put a beating on you! That just doesn’t change, but for her she got some kind of moral victory…either you thought you won or you thought you lost, and she has never said that she felt she won the fight.
She always say, ‘Oh thought it was a split decision, oh I thought that maybe it was a majority decision but not a unanimous.’ It’s like it don’t matter! An ‘L’ is an ‘L.’ Whether if by knockout, TKO, unanimous decision, majority whatever, a loss is a loss, that’s it! But I told her I would rematch here a long time ago.”
So for the time being we’ll just have to sit tight and see what comes of the Miller versus Gabriels bout. Stay tuned to 3kingsboxing for all the latest boxing news and updates.
