Errol Spence Foresees a Fight for Undisputed with Terence Crawford Sooner Than Later!

Whether hardcore or casual, the fight that all boxing fans want to see the most is a welterweight showdown between unified champion Errol Spence Jr (28-0, 22 KOs) and WBO belt-holder Terence “Bud” Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs). After years of teasing, signs are pointing more and more toward it being a reality, and not just talk.

Spence was in attendance to watch his friend and stablemate Jermell Charlo stop Brian Castano become the undisputed champ at 154 pounds. The unified champion at 147 was interviewed at ringside by Showtime and asked whether a match with Crawford will take place.

HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL

“I think it’s going to happen. It’s a fight I definitely want. I definitely want it this year. So hopefully, we can make it happen. I think we can make it happen because I want it and he wants it. I think we can come to terms and we will fight this year.”

Spence said they are at the talking stages right now. But his advisor, Al Haymon, told him that Crawford is chomping at the bit. While Spence has three of the belts in the division and is considered the A-side, the key could lie at the feet of the WBO champ.

“Bud” is a free agent, available to work with any promoter. On May 1, 3Kings Boxing reported that he is open to signing with PBC, and is waiting on an offer.

STRIKE WHILE THE IRON IS HOT

The time is now. From a financial perspective, it will not get any bigger. All parties understand the magnitude of what would be a true super-fight. For Spence, he wants it more than anything.

“That’s for the undisputed, I feel like it’s the biggest fight in boxing. I feel like that’s all the fans want to see, it’s a huge fight for both of us […] I got three belts, he’s got the one belt. So, that’s the only belt I need to become the undisputed welterweight champion of the world.

It’s something that I’ve been very adamant about. It’s something that I really want to do. So, we’re going to get it done.”
