Sulecki Has Uphill Battle Versus Andrade

This Saturday June 29, Maciej “Striczu” Sulecki knows he must have the showing of his life to become a champion. On that date, the Polish boxer will travel to Providence, Rhode Island to face WBO middleweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade in his own backyard. The two middleweights will lock horns on DAZN, with live coverage beginning at 9 pm.

In terms of skill, Striczu is approaching Andrade as if he is the most capable and versatile adversary of his career. While Sulecki is aware of the challenge before him, he is confident that he will prevail. Sulecki is looking for his third straight win since his only career defeat to former middleweight champion Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs back on April 24, 2018.

“Andrade’s style is hard to define […]. I will have to be twice as good as I was versus Jacobs and three times as good when I fought Rosado.”

Earlier this year, on March 15, Striczu had his hands full with an aging “King” Gabriel Rosado. Sulecki was able to floor Rosado in two separate rounds, and ultimately won the exciting fight. However, he himself was placed on the canvas twice in the ninth. Fortunately, the Polish boxer is not overly rattled when placed in tough situations. Despite fighting Andrade in his literal hometown, Sulecki assures that he is comfortable with the situation.

Familiar Territory

Much of this ease if due to the fact that Boo-Boo is a southpaw. Traditionally speaking, the typical boxer does not enjoy or relish facing southpaws, and this goes for southpaws as well! The reason being, most fighters operate out of the orthodox stance. It’s not often that fighters have to adjust to the southpaw style. Ironically enough, Striczu’s fistic background is filled with southpaws.

“He is a southpaw, but it just so happens this way during my career, I basically have mostly southpaw sparring partners. I was raised on southpaws. So, I actually fight better versus southpaws than versus guys who fight the normal way.”

Time will tell if his previous in-ring experience and southpaw-rich background will help Sulecki secure the win in Providence. No matter who prevails, the prizefight should be an exciting affair for however long it lasts. Sulecki is aiming to prove he truly belongs on the top level, while Andrade will try to have a strong showing to further push and justify a long desired fight with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
