Diego Pacheco Carving Out his Path at Super Middleweight
Within the super middleweight division, 21-year-old Diego Pacheco (16-0, 13KOs) is a prospect worth keeping an eye on. The Mexican American born in Los Angeles, California was introduced to boxing at the age of nine by his father. Blessed with terrific height and exceptional power and skill, the young talent is on a campaign to become household name.
The 6’4 Pacheco recently picked up his sixteenth win, stopping Enrique Collazo (16-3-1, 11KOs) in five rounds. That fight took place on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez versus Gennady Golovkin on September 17. In that bout, he displayed tremendous patience, discipline, and focus. On top of that, his counterpunching and jab were effective in setting up his thunderous right hand that did Collazo in.
Pacheco had more than 75 fights in his amateur career. He won multiple tournaments including the 2016 National Silver Gloves and USA Nationals. He hopes to equal or surpass his amateur success on the professional level.
The ceiling appears to be pretty high for Diego Pacheco as he seeks to become a legitimate contender in the super middleweight division.
