Tiger Johnson has Beef to Settle with Ryan Garcia!

When last in the ring, super lightweight prospect Delante “Tiger” Johnson (6-0, 4 KO’s) continued to put his significant talent to work. In that duel, Tiger, 24, handily defeated Esteban Garcia despite Garcia having three times the professional experience. The bout capped off a busy year where Johnson staged a total of five prizefights. The former Olympian and Top Rank signed fighter fully intends on repeating his success in 2023. Yet, if he had his way, Johnson would love to test his might with super lightweight boxer Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (23-0, 19 KO’s).

While he would eagerly accept a match with Garcia, Tiger does understand that he has a bit of a wait. Before that duel could be brought to life, he would first have to get his weight up in terms of his resume and overall visibility in the sport. With that being said though, of all the top names to choose from, King Ry is the one that he desires the most, as he explained to ThaBoxingVoice.

“I don’t care about no fight but Ryan (Garcia). If I had to choose who I would fight, in order, I’m fighting Ryan first. I want to get him out of there!”

“[…] as of right now, I am just doing what I got to do. Whoever they put in front of me, get them out the way. And when the time comes, if there is an opportunity for me to call him out, I’m taking it! Of course not now, he is on the verge of fighting Tank [Gervonta Davis] and Devin Haney, so of course it wouldn’t make no sense for me to come out the blue. But when its my time, and he is still there, I’m calling him out!”

REMEMBER ME?!

Unsurprisingly, this burning urge to dance with Garcia stems from an amateur bout that Tiger can’t quite let go of!

“We fought in the amateurs and I never got my get-back, and plus I just don’t like him! I don’t like him as a person…Ryan does this tough guy act that is not really him and I don’t like that. His personality, I don’t like his personality but as a boxer, I think he is a good boxer.”

As Tiger Johnson already said himself, he comprehends that this is not the ideal time to press for this fight. Yet, so long as he continues to blow away the competition, he will be building a public case to get the revenge he so urgently seeks. Guess we’ll just have to see how fast he rises through the ranks and how much noise he can make in the meantime. Either way, this should be a fun ride for the fans!
