Murodjon Akhmadaliev Likely to Face Ronny Rios Next
At the current moment, all indicators suggest that WBA Super and IBF super bantamweight champion Murodjon “MJ” Akhmadaliev (10-0, 7 KO’s) will face Ronny Rios (33-3, 16 KO’s) next. This is because the WBA has ordered the two fighters to contract and stage a title fight by April 24.
This is not the first time that these two men have attempted going to war. Had everything gone according to plan, Akhmadaliev and Rios would have traded leather back in November of 2021. Well that was before Rios contracted COVID-19 and was forced to bow out of the fight. So rather than his Californian foe, MJ went on to best Jose Velasquez by way of unanimous decision.
CHALLENGERS WAITING IN LINE!
Provided that MJ does battle Rios, and prevail, he will not have to wait long to figure out his next adversary. This is because he has already been ordered to go to a purse bid with his IBF mandatory challenger, Marlon “Maranding Nightmare” Tapales (35-3, 18 KO’s). Given this reality, it appears that MJ is going to start 2022 off in rather busy fashion!
The undefeated Uzbekistan boxer is coming off a two-fight year in 2021. He won his first bout, against Ryosuke Iwasa, by way of knockout, then toppled the aforementioned Jose Velasquez by way of UD. Following those victories up by claiming the scalps of Rios and Tapales during the first half of the 2022 would be an excellent way to launch the year. Yet, with the tricky and very unpredictable nature of the business of boxing, let’s make sure that Akhmadaliev and Rios actually make it to the ring this time! Luckily, no matter what happens, 3Kings Boxing will be there to report the news.
