Heavyweight Champ says him and the Bronze Bomber are different people
Today in an interview with The Breakfast Club, WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder made some very controversial comments in regards to his desire of possibly killing an opponent in the ring. He stated;
“I want a body on my record, I want one,” Wilder coolly explained to hosts Charlamagne Tha God & Angela Yee.
Wilder went on to say that the Bronze Bomber which is his nickname is a killer.
“That’s the Bronze Bomber, he want [a body],” Wilder said. “I always tell people, when I’m in the ring, like I am the Bronze Bomber. With him, it’s so crazy, when I’m in the Bronze Bomber, I don’t really care. Everything about me changes. I don’t get nervous, I don’t get scared, I don’t get butterflies, I don’t have no feeling towards the man I’m fixin to fight.”
Wilder who is known for his power, thinks he’s so powerful that killing his opponent wouldn’t be such a hard task, saying this.
“The power that I have, it’s easy to be able to do,” Wilder said. “I thought I had one, one time with [Artur] Szpilka because he wasn’t breathing when he hit the canvas. Somebody is going to go.”
Wilder’s comments come a month after British Boxer Scott Westgarth died after winning a fight against Dec Spelman, where Westgarth collapsed in his locker room.
My award for Donkey of the day definitely goes to Deontay Wilder for his comments. To say something like this at the very least insensitive and shows a lack of respect for his opponents as well as the sport itself.
