Julian Williams-Jarrett Hurd & Gervonta Davis-Tevin Farmer PPV?
Two of Philadelphia’s very own fighters, Julian Williams and Tevin Farmer, have recovered from career setbacks to obtain the goal they each set out for when they entered boxing; become champions.
With that goal accomplished, unified junior middleweight champion Julian Williams has an idea that would showcase both Philadelphia natives on the same fight card; him in a rematch vs Jarrett Hurd and the ever so often talked about Tevin Farmer vs Gervonta Davis fight.
Now before you get too excited, this is something that one may deem an unlikely reality due to Tevin Farmer’s alliance with Eddie Hearn and DAZN. Also, Davis, who’s promoted by Floyd Mayweather, has shown no interest in having his fighter fight one of the division’s other champions.
Devils Advocate
Let’s say for the fun of it that this card got made. It would pit Philadelphia against the DMV. Jarrett Hurd, the former unified junior middleweight champion, hails from Accokeek, Maryland, which is 17 miles from Washington, D.C. Davis, the current WBA junior lightweight champion, hails from Baltimore, Maryland.
The storyline for this “hypothetical” card would sell itself. Back on May 11, Williams and Hurd gave us perhaps the best fight so far in 2019. Farmer and Davis, to put it simply, can’t stand each other. They have exchanged words on a few occasions, while nearly coming to blows in the process. So, the history is clearly there.
While this would be an excellent night of boxing, don’t hold your breath. A fighter can dream though, can’t he?
