Abdullah Mason Notches A TKO Over Luis Lebron
In against Luis “Popeye” Lebron (20-6-1, 13 KO’s), his most decorated opponent to date, lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason (14-0, 12 KO’s) prevailed in sensational fashion by third round TKO.
Mason opened the bout responsibly by working off the back foot and periodically jabbing the aggressive Lebron to the head and body. While nothing came of them, Mason did eat a handful of straight right hands. Abdullah Mason would come roaring out in the second period and utilized his swift hands to overwhelm Popeye with piercing, accurate combinations.
Within the first minute of the second round, Lebron had a badly bleeding nose and will-stealing uppercuts to the body almost visibly diminished his desire to keep fighting. A thudding left hook to the side of the head inspired Lebron to take a seat and standing eight count. Moments later, three right hooks would force Popeye to the ground again in the closing seconds of the second round. With the writing on the wall, Lebron’s own corner quickly threw in the towel when Mason pounced on him and corralled him in his own corner in the beginning of the third round.
