Amanda Serrano Wins Historic Bout as Lescaille Stays Undefeated
Undisputed featherweight champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (46-2-1, 30KO) easily dominated Danila Ramos (12-3, 1KO) in a history-making fight.
It was not the typical rock’em, sock’em robot style of fighting as both women fought at a more calm pace, with the rounds being three minutes.
The Real Deal controlled the four scoring criteria (effective aggression, defense, ring generalship, and clean punching) from the start of the bell. In addition, her punch output increased each round, and she showed no signs of slowing down.
Ramos backpedaled the entire contest but found momentary success with straight and counter right hands in the latter rounds.
In the championship rounds, Serrano focused on attacking the body and landing brutal left hands, looking for the stoppage. The Florida crowds were on their feet as the undisputed champion threw punches in bunches until the final bell.
All three judges scored it 120-108 for Serrano. If the purpose of this fight was to show why women fights should be three-minute rounds, they definitely made their point. Regardless of the undisputed champion pitching a shut-out, fans saw cleaner action and skill.
DAMIAN LESCAILLE SCORES A SENSATIONAL KNOCKOUT OVER RAY BARLOW
Cuban welterweight prospect Damian “The Punisher” Lescaille (6-0, 3KO) remained undefeated after scoring an impressive knockout over Ray Barlow (7-3, 4KO).
Lescaille almost ended the fight in the first round after landing a flurry of thunderous shots that had Barlow on wobbly legs. The Cuban was not done as he continued to stalk his opponent, landing hard shots before unleashing ferocious body attacks.
In round four, Barlow tasted the canvas after tasting a short, compact pull-counter. Despite surviving the round, he couldn’t overcome the superior talent of Lescaille.
In round nine, Lescaille landed a violent right hook that sent Barlow to the canvas like a tumbling tree, forcing the referee to call for the stoppage.
The Punisher needs to work on fighting more behind the jab, his balance, and patience. Nevertheless, he showed serious potential and his growth will improve under the watchful eye of Ronnie Shields.
