Will Demetrius Andrade Look to PBC, Top Rank, or Golden Boy Next?

Where will WBO middleweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (31-0, 19KO) land after having to leave promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing? The two-divisional champion will soon find himself without a home, an all too familiar feeling he has known before in the past.

Andrade was supposed to fight super middleweight Zach Parker for the WBO mandatory spot. The organization scrapped those plans after learning Andrade’s shoulder injury would take too long to heal.

Then the WBO decided to go with the original plan of having Boo Boo defend the middleweight crown against mandatory challenger Janibek Alimkhanuly. Furthermore, the WBO have given him a timeline to make the fight, or they will strip him of the title.

WHO SHOULD ANDRADE SIGN WITH NEXT?

Lastly, during an interview with the media, Hearn acknowledged that since he can’t deliver Andrade the big fight, they will part ways after his last contracted bout. The month of May has been a river of bad news for the two-divisional champion from Rhode Island.

So the question remains: where does Andrade go afterward? He has a few viable options when looking at the landscape. Andrade could land with Golden Boy Promotions, if he is willing to forgive them for keeping former WBO junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia and boxing’s biggest earner, Canelo Alvarez, away from his path.

Top Rank would be a good signing as they have the backing and resources to keep him busy. However, a big fight would be hard for them also, considering Premier Boxing Champions and Matchroom have a lock on the middleweight and super middleweight division.

This brings us to PBC, which would be the obvious choice. Signing with the powerhouse stable of Al Haymon could land him two major fights with WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo and two-time super middleweight champion David Benavidez.

At the age of 34, Boo Boo can’t afford to be sidelined as a free agent for very long pondering on where to continue his career. 3Kings Boxing will continue to pay close attention to the situation.
