Ivan Baranchyk pulls out of WBSS tournament due to financial issues and lack of communication!

IBF junior welterweight champion, Ivan Baranchyk has pulled out of the WBSS tournament due to frustrations over financial issues and lack of communication over his next fight date.

Reportedly, he was to fight number two seed Josh Taylor in the semifinals between January and March. However, without a date in sight, he has decided to withdraw.

The champion won the IBF title in the opening round over Anthony Yigit via seventh round stoppage. The reserve is Viktor Postol, which would setup a rematch of an exciting June 2018 bout with Taylor.

This doesn’t come to much of a surprise given reports over the last few months of the Sauerland Brothers not paying participants their due. Ryan Martin, who lost to Josh Taylor in the first round, has been vocal through his team about not being paid.

Let’s hope the tournament organizers can get things back on track with the fighters involved.
