Bill Haney Expects a More Ferocious George Kambosos in Rematch

When lightweight boxer Devin “The Dream” Haney (28-0, 15 KO’s) fought to be undisputed, he did so against all odds. The young Californian traveled across the ocean, without his father, who also serves as his chief second and he did all this while fighting on openly hostile territory. In Hollywood movie fashion, Bill Haney, The Dream’s head coach, showed up for the fight in the nick of time and watched Devin box circles around his Australian foe “Ferocious” George Kambosos (20-1, 10 KO’s).

To his credit, despite the thoroughness of his outclassing, Kambosos was quick to activate his rematch clause. Having gone a full twelve rounds with Haney, Ferocious was left with the belief that he can tweak a few things and come back stronger. Whether that is true or not, or even if Kambosos believes this or not, is not relevant. All Team Haney knows, as Bill explained to ThaBoxingVoice, is that they are not sleeping on anyone.

“I know that George is going to come, he has everything against him now. He is once again the challenger and he’s going to find some way to come and make it a good fight.”

PREPARE FOR THE WORST

Just as Kambosos has benefited from going the distance with Haney, so too has The Dream done his own reconnaissance. With that being the case, Bill Haney doesn’t see much outside of getting underhanded that Ferocious can do differently in the second match. Yet, this is something that they are preparing for as well.

“For me, it’s so historic that Devin is now the undisputed champion and to defend the belts and go back over there. When, you know, I am very conscientious of the fact that everyone whispered in my ear about watching out and be careful and do the things that we have to go back and do same things and I am just as much conscientious.

And I am very aware that George will come in winging it, winging it, winging it, making it a dirty fight. Or trying to attempt to make it as dirty as possible. ”

It will be interesting to see what adjustments both men can make. Will Kambosos shock the world and enter the ring a completely revamped and more formidable fighter? Will Haney supply him another boxing lesson? Or, will The Dream apply his might and toss Kambosos a frightful beating? In the end, the only way to know is to tune in come fight night. Luckily, no matter what the outcome, 3Kings Boxing will be there to report the news!
