Bozy Ennis Likes The Idea Of A Conor Benn Fight

IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis (31-0, 28KO) trainer and father, Derek “Bozy” Ennis, believes that Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (22-0, 14KO) would face a stoppage if the two were to meet.

When the IBF granted Boots full champion status, the immediate focus was on securing an opponent for a title defense. While several names are under consideration, former WBA junior welterweight champion Mario Barrios emerges as the front runner.

THE FIGHT WON’T GO THE DISTANCE

A new potential future opponent may have entered the conversation. In an interview with MillCity Boxing, Bozy Ennis confidently asserted that his son would emerge victorious against Benn.

“Boots would stop Conor Benn, man. He’ll come out wild, and then he is going to slow down… I watched his last fight. He winds up slowing down, and then when you slow down, what’s going to happen? You gonna get stopped, that’s what going to happen.”

Acknowledging that Benn may not be a household name in the US market, Bozy emphasized their willingness to make the fight happen for the right price.

“He’s got a name over there [United Kingdom], they don’t know him out here in the United States… but we’ll accommodate him too, the price is right, the deal is real.”

Ennis has maintained a desires to fight top pond-for-pound, and Fighter of the Year unified champion Terence Crawford. The IBF champion hopes that holding a belt would dispel the narrative of high-risk, low reward, compelling other top names to step into the ring with him.

As the New Year unfolds, Team Ennis is gearing up for significant developments.
