Burton vs Monaghan Possible in America

Former British 175 pounds champ Hosea Burton could face Sean Monaghan


Hosea Burton (21-1, 10KOs) could be making his american debut against Sean Monaghan (29-1, 17KOs).

The bout will possibly take place on the undercard of the Saunders/Andrade WBO title showdown in Boston.

The card will be streamed live on DAZN October 20.

Burton, is a former BBBofC British Light-Heavyweight champion. His first career lost came at the hands of Frank Buglioni via twelfth round TKO in 2016.

Since then, the 29 year old British boxer nicknamed “The Hammer” has been on a three fight win streak.

Monaghan is a former WBC/WBO Continental American Light-Heavyweight titlist. His only defeat was in 2017 against undefeated contender Marcus Browne via second round knockout.

Later that year, he bounced back to defeat journeyman Evert Bravo.

The 36 year old crafty veteran is ranked inside the top 10 of three out of four major sanctioning bodies.

Burton will be looking to break inside the rankings with a victory against such a highly ranked opponent.

This will also mark another step-up fight to see if he has learned from the Buglioni experience.

In addition, he will have the advantage in height and is the better boxer.

Monaghan will have the power, experience and hometown advantage. Being a native New Yorker, plenty of fans will travel to Boston to show support.
