Layla McCarter Challenges Cameron and Wants McCaskill Dethroned
Undisputed junior welterweight champion Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron (17-0, 8KOs) has been calling out undisputed welterweight champion Jessica “Caskilla” McCaskill (12-3, 5KOs). It now seems a new player is being added as five-divisional champion “Amazing” Layla McCarter (45-13-5, 11KOs) is throwing her name in the mix.
The undisputed junior welterweight champion had social media buzzing. In a recent post, Cameron called out McCaskill’s manager/trainer Rick Ramos, after watching an interview of him talking about a possible rematch. Furthermore, she was adamant the rematch must be for the undisputed welterweight crown.
“I want a fight and your belts.”

McCarter joined in on the conversation to demand that Caskilla vacate the welterweight titles. In addition, she would be willing to fight Cameron at any weight.
As of the writing of this article, Cameron has not responded.
“Amazing” has been in the boxing game for over twenty years since her debut fight in 1998. She currently holds down the welterweight number two spot with the WBC and WBA, as well as the number six with the IBF.
The Californian’s stacked resume has names such as Jelena Mrdjenovich, Cindy Serrano, Alicia Ashley, Mary Jo Sanders, Mellisa Del Valle, Noni Tenge, and Melissa Hernandez. In 2017, she had a short stint fighting under the Mayweather’s promotional banner.
McCarter has not lost a fight since the rematch with Hernandez in 2007. She was victorious in her last outing against Halanna dos Santos on March 25. Still active, McCarter is looking to become a champion once again since defeating Tenge for the WBA junior middleweight title in 2012.
