Charlie Edwards Dominates Kyle Williams!

After being out of the ring for a year following a no contest against Julio Cesar Martinez, former WBC flyweight champion Charlie Edwards (15-1, 6KOs) would return to the ring against Kyle Williams ( 11-2, 3KOs).

Debuting at bantamweight, the former champ would be looking to impress as he starts his road to winning another world title.

In a matchup of light punchers, Edwards would start the bout off firing his jab, trying to establish the range needed to throw his combinations. Williams, the less-refined fighter, would be looking to bring pressure and confusion switching from orthodox to southpaw stances.

A good jab from the former champion would set up his right hand and left hooks, as well as the occasional uppercut when in close range. Cruising through the first four rounds, he looked really sharp.

Williams found success in rounds five and six after turning up the pressure and punishing Edwards to body. However, this would be short lived. The former champion adjusted well and continued his dominance.

SMOOTH SAILING

After taking his foot off the gas in rounds five and six Edwards would return to dominating Williams.

In the end, Edwards would win by unanimous decision. All three scorecards read 99-91. He improves his record to (16-1, 6KOs).

While victorious, it’s clear that Edwards still has work to do if he wants to become a two-time world champion. The bantamweight division is deep so his game has to improve if he wants to be more than just a contender.
