Canelo vs Crawford Winner to Still Fall Short of Top 10 Greatness

In boxing, fans and pundits will go too far when ranking a fighter’s standing on the all-time list after a big win. This is the case when it comes to undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and multi-divisional champion Terence “Bud” Crawford.

Bud will be attempting to become a three-divisional undisputed champion with a victory over Canelo. It’s a great feat, but it shouldn’t put him in the conversation of the top 10 greatest of all time. Often, this is a result of lost knowledge of the sport. The same thing applies to Canelo, who will be looking to defeat a top pound-for-pound fighter in Crawford on September 13. When examining the extensive history of the sport, one would find that fighters fought more and defeated several top-tier opponents.

In fairness, it’s not Crawford’s fault for being born in this era. However, his resume has come under fire   due to the lack of top-tier names on it. Although Canelo had no business questioning the Nebraskan’s resume, some inside the boxing community felt there was some truth to it. Even so, the Mexican has come under attack for avoiding the top fighters of this era.

After their fight, boxing fans and pundits will immediately start asking where each fighter’s place should be on the all-time greats list. So get ready to hear some wild opinions.
