Caroline Dubois vs Elif Nur Turhan Unification Battle Coming?
Reigning unified lightweight champion Caroline Dubois is ready for the next major challenge in her career. That opportunity could come in the form of a showdown with IBF 135-pound titleholder Elif Nur Turhan.
Dubois became a unified champion with a unanimous decision victory over Terri Harper on April 5 in London, England. Following the win, the 25-year-old southpaw made it clear she intends to collect more hardware at 135 pounds.
In an exclusive interview with Ring Magazine, Dubois revealed that her focus has shifted toward Turhan as the most viable next opponent.
“Right now, I think the most realistic would be Turhan next. She’s the one that’s available and free, also the most exciting one. […] It’s a dangerous, but a very exciting fight. That’s all I want to give to the fans, exciting fights, being involved in the best and biggest fights that I can possibly make. Hopefully Turhan and myself can get it on and it’s easy and simple. It’s just about where, when and on what card.”
For months, Dubois had been calling for a fight with unified junior lightweight champion Alycia Baumgardner. However, it appears that Baumgardner has little interest in facing her at this time.
THE MOST SENSIBLE DECISION
With that option seemingly off the table, Dubois is turning the page. Turhan captured the IBF title with an eye-opening fifth-round stoppage victory over Beatriz Ferreira in December 2025. She followed that performance with a hard-fought split-decision win over Taylah Gentzen in January 2026.
A Dubois versus Turhan clash could materialize as early as this summer. Known for her aggressive style, Turhan is arguably the biggest puncher at 135 pounds. Her approach would present a stern test for Dubois.
To many observers, the winner of a potential showdown between Dubois and Turhan would have a strong claim as the top fighter in the lightweight division, and take a significant step toward full unification.
