Juan Francisco Estrada-Dewayne Beamon likely for August 24
Newly-crowned WBC super flyweight champion Francisco Estrada will return home for his first title defense. His opponent will reportedly be Dewayne Beamon (16-1–1, 11KOs), who hails from Goldsboro, North Carolina.
The little-known Beamon amassed a 48-2 record as an amateur. The match will be his first title opportunity. Given that Estrada is an extremely experienced and talented multi-weight champion, not much is expected in terms of a competitive fight.
For Estrada this match is to serve as a showcase homecoming prelude fight before possible unification bouts with Jerwin Ancajas or Kal Yafi occur.
His last fight a rematch with former WBC super flyweight champion Sor Rungvisai saw him put on a masterful performance clearly winning the sequel.
Nothing is official at the moment. However, we expect an official confirmation soon.
