Estrada v Gonzalez Trilogy Winner to Claim WBC Belt!

There is even more incentive to the upcoming trilogy fight between Juan Francisco Estrada (43-3, 28 KOs) and Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (51-3, 41 KOs). The WBC has announced that the December 3 contest is now for the vacant WBC junior bantamweight title. The decision is the byproduct of Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez deciding to vacate the title and move up to 115-pounds .

With both men holding the WBC junior bantamweight strap at one time during their careers and Estrada currently the WBC Franchise champ, it only made sense. In truth, it was a predictable move on the part of the sanctioning body.

LET’S DO IT AGAIN

Estrada and Gonzalez III is a match that fans and pundits expect to be another epic affair. Their first fight happened in November 2012, when both men fought at 108 pounds. That evening, Estrada gave as good as he received. But in the end, Gonzalez had his hand raised in victory to retain the WBA junior flyweight title.

It took nearly nine years for the rematch to occur. But in March 2021, the two warriors put on a show for the viewing and television audience. In what turned out to be 3Kings Boxing’s Fight of the Year or 2021, Estrada gained sweet revenge with a controversial split decision victory.

This upcoming fight has had its share of tribulations. Originally scheduled for March 5, it was postponed after Estrada contracted COVID-19. Now fully healthy and recovered, they will lace up the gloved and go to war again. Can fight number three be just as good? December 3 will provide that answer.
