Chris Eubank Jr. Predicts Rematch KO Victory Over Liam Smith
On September 2, Chris Eubank Jr. (32-3, 23 KOs) gets his shot at redemption as he will fight a rematch with Liam Smith (33-3-1, 20 KOs). The bout will occur at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. This time round, Eubank Jr. is adamant that he’s locked in and guaranteeing that Smith will not make it to the final bell.
DETERMINED AND DEDICATED TO THE TASK AT HAND
Eubank Jr. is constantly in the spotlight in his home country of Great Britain. As a result, he’s beset with constant distractions outside the ring. But he says that was not the case while preparing for this fight. During an interview on the Sky Sports show, The Overlap, Eubank Jr. says he’s one hundred percent focused and has one thing on his mind.
“Getting in that ring, and avenging the loss . . . Any kind of distractions that gets in the way of focus is detrimental . . . Right now, I’m just in fight mode.”
They previously fought on January 21, with Smith winning by a surprising fourth-round stoppage. Eubank said the defeat was due to complacency. He felt in control and did whatever he wanted during the first three rounds, but one momentary lapse in concentration cost him dearly.
OUT WITH OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW
Since that fight, the 33-year-old has decided to make some changes to his team. That included letting go of his previous trainer, Roy Jones, and replacing him with Brian “BoMac” McIntyre, trainer of reigning undisputed welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford. Eubank Jr. said he enjoyed the infrastructure and the regime that McIntyre implemented during training camp.
In his mind, it will all prove beneficial on September 2. When asked for a prediction, Eubank Jr. said he believes that there is only one conclusion – that he is going to knock Smith out.
“I have to give this fight everything I’ve got. I can’t afford any mistakes. I can’t afford any slip-ups This is the most important fight of my life.”
“I’m going to win. I’m going to stop him. This fight isn’t going to go twelve rounds.”
