Ngannou Thinks Anthony Joshua’s Chin Will Be His Downfall

On March 8, MMA star Francis Ngannou (0-1) will engage in his second professional boxing contest as he faces two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony “AJ” Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs) in Saudi Arabia. Ngannou is looking to test Joshua’s chin and suspects AJ may not have the whiskers to take what he plans to dish out.

Ngannou made his boxing debut in October 2023 against reigning WBC heavyweight champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury. Knocking down Fury in round three, Ngannou gave the champion all he could handle but came up on the losing end in a tight split decision. Next is Joshua, who was impressive in a fifth-round stoppage over Otto Wallin in December 2024.

NOTICING A WEAKNESS

Ngannou is a man who has no fear of any man. He discussed the upcoming battle on the MMAFightingonSBN podcast and said that Joshua is more than beatable.

“I’ve heard that he doesn’t have a chin. I’m going to find out . . . He lost to Andy Ruiz. He lost to Oleksandr Usyk, and he can still lose. By the way, I’m really intending to hang him some loss on March 8.”

Whenever Joshua is at his best, he’s a fluid combination puncher who can knock out an opponent with either hand. However, there are moments when he’s hesitant to let the shots go. Additionally, there are questions about his punch resistance. Joshua has been knocked down and wobbled numerous times in his career.

GETTING BETTER WITH EACH FIGHT

Ngannou promised a drastic improvement, from a technical standpoint. But his power is his selling point. It was evident in the loss to Fury.

The MMA star believes he can hurt whoever he can put his hands on. He’s banking on his power and what he feels is Joshua’s vulnerable whiskers. If Ngannou can land solidly, it could make things very interesting on fight night in Saudi Arabia.
