Frank Sanchez Stops Richard Torrez; Targets Oleksandr Usyk Next!

In his most recent tour of duty, heavyweight Frank “The Cuban” Flash” Sanchez (26-1, 19 KO’s) defeated Richard Torrez Jr. (14-1, 12 KO’s) by way of second-round knockout. Not only was this a very important win for his professional career, the match also stood as an IBF final title eliminator. This win over Torrez Jr. was just Sanchez’s second win since suffering his sole professional loss to Agit Kabayel back on May 18, 2024.

When conducting his post-fight interview Sanchez let it be known that he wanted to stay on the IBF track and gun for a fight with unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KO’s). At the time that this article was penned, Usyk was headlining the same card that The Cuban Flash just competed on. So, even though Usyk is a massive favorite, we must first see how that fight concludes. First, Usyk must win and then emerge without any notable injuries.

In any case, there is no guarantee that the champion will select The Cuban Flash as his next opponent, or ever. So, let’s give it a minute to breathe and see what Team Sanchez can come up with next.
