Mizuki Hiruta Challenges Gabriela Fundora After Soliman Win
In her latest fight, Japanese import and WBO super flyweight champion Mizuki “Mimi” Hiruta (11-0, 2 KO’s) defeated Mai Soliman (10-2, 6 KO’s) by way of unanimous decision. When the cards were read, Hiruta prevailed with the scores of 99-91 and 98-92 (twice). The victory marked the seventh defense of her WBO title that she has held since December 1, 2022.
When questioned about what she sought to accomplish next, Mimi stated that she would like to unify the titles. With this being the case, her fellow 115-pound champions are Adelaida Ruiz (WBC), Jasmine Artiga (WBA) and Irma Garcia (IBF).
Of these competitors, Irma “Torbellino” Garcia was last in action this past April 5. She should be ready and available to begin fight negotiations. Similar to Garcia, Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz was last in the ring on November 29, 2025 and would seemingly be up for signing a unification bout contract. The last belt-carrying champion however, Jasmine Artiga, does have an upcoming duel scheduled with Nataly Delgado on June 13. Time will tell if Team Hiruta can work anything out with Ruiz or Garcia.
Outside of these potential unification bouts, when specifically asked, Mimi expressed her interest and willingness to mix it up with unified flyweight champion Gabriella “Sweet Poison” Fundora. Being as dominant as they are in their respective divisions, the notion has been brought up regarding a mutual fight. Like Hiruta, Sweet Poison was very excited about the thought of facing the 115-pound champion. Hiruta versus Fundora would make for a very fun action-fight. So, let’s see what Hiruta and her team can come up with next.
