Hughie Fury pulls out on fight night!

In a surprise move on the same day the fight was scheduled to take place, Hughie Fury (23-3, 13 KO’s), cousin to Tyson Fury, has pulled out of his contest with Pavel “Pablo” Sour (11-2, 6 KO’s). The last-minute withdrawal is being attributed to illness. The unfortunate announcement was made public by Fury’s own Matchroom promotional company.

Had the fight gone through, Fury v Sour would have served as the co-main event for the world welterweight title clash between Radzhab “The Python” Butaev (12-0, 9 KO’s) and Alexander Besputin (13-0, 9 KO’s).

Fury was attempting to slide back into the win column following his loss to Alexander Povetkin. The loss to Povetkin (35-2, 24 KO’s) marked Fury’s third professional loss. In fact, it seems that each time the lesser known Fury has stepped up he’s been embraced by defeat.

He has lost to Joseph Parker, Kubrat Pulev and now, Alexander Povetkin. All of these failed outings have taken place within in the past two years. The canceled prizefight against Sour is loosely being planned to be rescheduled for the spring of 2020.

The rest of the Sky Sports fight card, including undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia “First Lady” Braekhus (35-0, 9 KO’s) vs Victoria “La Leona” Bustos (19-5, 0 KO’s) will proceed as previously planned.
