Garcia vs Easter Deal Could be Done Soon

Unification bout at 135 likely for this summer

Four division world champion Mikey Garcia is looking to be back in the ring in late July or August. 3KingsBoxing.com has learned the WBC lightweight champion is currently trying to get a deal done in which he could have a unification bout with IBF champion Robert Easter Jr.

The fight is expected to take place in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. Three dates for a potential bout to take place on Showtime have been reserved as they try to finish the deal between the two champions.

Garcia hasn’t fought at home since 2011 so it’s a homecoming he’s been looking forward to. He most recently picked up his fourth division crown against Sergey Lipinets back in March when he won the IBF super lightweight title. He just recently announced his decision to vacate that belt and return to lightweight in an effort to land a unification bout.

Easter is a guy that could present Garcia with problems simply due to his length. The Ohio native doesn’t always use this advantage very well though. He last fought back in January when he won a controversial decision against Javier Fortuna.

With Vasyl Lomachenko and Jorge Linares set to face off in less than two weeks the lightweight division is currently looking pretty good.
