Sean Gibbons says Isaac Cruz vs Ryan Garcia is Still on the Table!
In boxing, fights do not always happen when fans want them to, or even on schedule at all; it’s all a matter of timing. Sean Gibbons, a representative of lightweight Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, shared the same sentiments on a fight with Ryan “King Ry” Garcia eventually happening.
This is not the first time the boxing community has been on this merry-go-round with these two fighters. In 2021, Pitbull (23-2-1, 16KOs) caught the attention of the boxing community as a replacement fighter against three-divisional champion Gervonta Davis. Cruz gave a good account for himself by giving Davis all he could handle, despite losing the fight.
Garcia (22-0, 18KOs), looking to return the ring, targeted Cruz after witnessing the performance as an opponent. Golden Boy Promotions top brass Oscar De La Hoya came out claiming that Pitbull had turned down the fight.
This prompted a swift response from Gibbons who called the claims false. The dispute turned into a heated social media back and forth between both teams. Furthermore, Cruz developed a bad taste over the incident, and he revealed that Golden Boy never made an offer.
Fast forward to 2022, and the WBC ordered a final eliminator between the two fighters. The boxing gods once again pulled the rug from underneath the fans when it was later reported the WBC called off the fight.
THERE IS STILL TIME FOR THE FIGHT TO HAPPEN
Fans would like to see the fight happen as both fighters are in their prime. In an interview with Boxing Social, Gibbons is not ruling out the fight happening at some point when the timing is right.
“When the time is right, the fight will happen […] boxing is about timing. So let’s see, you know? The fight is still out there.”
“Life is about timing. Boxing is about timing, everything is about timing. We both have fights scheduled, we’re going to do our fights and then let’s see what happens after that.”
