Vasiliy Lomachenko Puts in his Bid to Fight George Kambosos

As many expected him to do, three-division champion Vasiliy “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KO’s) bested Richard Commey in his latest at bat. In many regards, it was a classic performance for Lomachenko who put all his signature moves on dazzling display. The accurate, high-volume combinations, nimble footwork and dizzying angles were all put to masterful use.

Prior to the prizefight, “Loma” made it quite clear that his most pressing goal is to become the undisputed champion of the division. At the moment, WBA super, WBO and IBF world lightweight champion “Ferocious” George Kambosos holds the most belts. Other than his three, WBC 135-pound champion Devin “The Dream” Haney possesses the last title. Therefore it should be unsurprising that after the Commey dustup, Lomachenko reaffirmed his desire to face Kambosos.

THE UNKNOWN FUTURE

It will be revealing to see who Kambosos does pen a bout with next. It is not a mystery that he was recently scouting a bevy of fighters including Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis and Lomachenko. Logically, one would think that Kambosos would select Haney so that they could once and for all settle the matter of undisputed. Yet, stranger things have happened in boxing.

Also, Lomachenko does have an extremely respected and valued place in the sport. So, no one could really be mad if he somehow did get the nod to dance with Kambosos next. With all these juicy potential twists and turns, it’ll be fun to see how they play out.
