Errol Spence vs Terence Crawford Undisputed Fight in October?!
It appears that we may finally get the long-awaited undisputed showdown between unified 147-pound champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (28-0, 22KOs) and WBO champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (38-0, 29KOs).
According to ESPN, both fighters are still in talks for their mega-fight. The date and venue are expected to take be October and Las Vegas, respectively. Contentious negotiations in the past that involved Crawford’s former promoter, Top Rank, seemingly put a damper on the fight being made. However, after leaving and suing his longtime promoter, things have really been fast tracked with Spence.
Crawford moved up to the welterweight division in 2018 and took the WBO strap from Jeff Horn in a dominant performance. Ever since, he’s been the guy boxing fans tabbed as Spence’s biggest competition in a loaded division. The southpaw switch hitter can do it all. He’s also a three-division world champion and former 140-pound undisputed champion. Finally, he’s coming off his biggest win as a welterweight against former two-time divisional champion Shawn Porter. Bud would stop Porter in ten rounds.
For Spence, the self-proclaimed big fish of the welterweight division, the road to this point in his career hasn’t been easy. After unifying the IBF and WBC titles in a great fight with Shawn Porter in 2019, a near-fatal disaster would happen when he was involved in a single-car accident and ejected from the car. Fortunately for him, he only suffered minor injuries.
Spence stopped former WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas in ten rounds back in April. In the aftermath, he called out Crawford. We here at 3Kings Boxing will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
