Is Devin Haney vs Richardson Hitchins Taking Shape Under Zuffa?
WBO 147-pound champion Devin “The Dream” Haney could be next to sign with Zuffa Boxing, which could lead to a fight with one-time 140-pound champion Richardson Hitchins. Father Bill Haney posted a cryptic tweet about his son getting a huge deal, which has the boxing community buzzing.

The boxing rumor mill quickly tried to connect the dots and believes a multi-fight deal was offered by Zuffa. This news comes on the heels of Team Haney’s failed negotiations for a unification with WBA champion Rolando Romero. If this is true, it means Zuffa continues to contradict itself by claiming not to overpay fighters.
WHY THE FIGHT COULD HAPPEN
However, this could open the door for a fight with Hitchins, who relinquished the IBF 140-pound title after pulling out of the fight against Oscar Duarte. In addition, he shocked the boxing community by signing with Zuffa and entering the welterweight division. This was a move foreseen by pundits, as it was a known fact that he was struggling to make weight.
So, if The Dream does make the move, then the only reason for such a big contract is a fight with Hitchins. This would explain a tweet by the one-time 140-pound champion earlier in the week.

Hitchins actually started his career fighting within the welterweight limit before settling into the 140-pound division. He hasn’t fought past the junior welterweight limit since 2022, so don’t be surprised if he takes a fight prior to facing Haney.
Their fight would draw a lot of attention from the fans. Hitchins called out Haney after scoring the first stoppage in three years against one-time champion George Kambosos in 2025. Haney is coming off a sensational performance in taking the title away from Brian Norman Jr. in late 2025.
Since everything is only a rumor, we can only speculate until an official announcement is made.
