Deontay Wilder Still Clinging to Tyson Fury Cheating Allegations
Whether in boxing or in life, few things are more damaging than making serious allegations without providing proof. That’s the position Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder continues to put himself in with his ongoing claims that Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury is a dirty fighter. At this point, Wilder has reached a crossroads: either back up his accusations with concrete evidence or finally let the matter go.
During a recent appearance on the Mr. Versace Podcast, alongside upcoming opponent Derek Chisora, Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) claimed that Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) cheated in two of their three fights. He went on to suggest that the full truth will eventually be revealed in a forthcoming documentary.
HERE WE GO AGAIN
This is hardly the first time Wilder has accused Fury of wrongdoing. Ever since his February 2020 stoppage loss in their rematch, Wilder has insisted that foul play was involved.
Wilder has maintained that Fury benefited from a long count after being dropped in round 12 of their first fight. Regarding their second bout, Wilder went even further. There he alleges that he was given an illegal substance that left him in an altered state. To much of the boxing community, these claims come across as denial rather than discovery.
That’s where the frustration lies. If Wilder truly has mounting evidence to support these accusations, why not present it through the proper channels and release it publicly? Instead, fans are repeatedly told to wait for a documentary that may—or may not—provide clarity.
At this stage, the solution is simple. Either Wilder produces verifiable proof of his claims or accepts what most observers already have: that Tyson Fury beat him, fair and square. Until then, these accusations only continue to undermine Wilder’s legacy rather than restore it.
