McCaskill Apologizes for Reckless Comments About Eddie Hearn
Sometimes, folks can be guilty of saying things that they may ultimately regret, only to later apologize. This is currently the case for unified women’s welterweight champion Jessica “CasKILLA” McCaskill (12-3, 5 KOs) for comments she made about undisputed junior lightweight champion Alycia testing positive for a banned substance.
SHE SAID WHAT?
As 3kingsboxing.com reported, Baumgardner tested positive for the banned substances Mesterolone and Methenolone in a pre-fight drug test before her July 15 rematch victory over Christina Linardatou. In the midst of the fallout about Baumgardner, McCaskill went on Tha Boxing Voice podcast, where she suggested that there is trouble in the waters between Baumgardner and Matchroom Promotions. Additionally, she intimated that the promotional giant may have done something behind the scenes and possibly manipulated her drug test.
The Chairman of Matchroom, Eddie Hearn, was not too happy with McCaskill’s assertions, calling them offensive and defamatory. Hearn eventually reached out to McCaskill and her manager, Rick Ramos, and gave them a piece of his mind. McCaskill has since gone to social media and released the following statement apologizing for her accusations:
THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK
The initial claim from McCaskill was both irresponsible and reckless. One, she had no proof for her allegations. As a result, some fans have accused the unified welterweight champion of being conspiratorial.
Secondly, why would McCaskill make that charge about Matchroom, a promotional company she also happens to fight for? If anything, CasKILLA is bringing trouble on herself with Hearn and Matchroom.
McCaskill has an upcoming unification fight with IBF women’s welterweight champion Sandy Ryan on September 23. One would guess that the relationship between Matchroom and McCaskill is now on very shaky ground.
