DAZN holds an official press conference detailing future events from the streaming project.
As previously reported, a press conference was held in New York today to promote the new streaming project DAZN. The large majority of the information provided has previously been reported by 3kingsboxing.com, but we will provide a summary here.
Affiliates of the project announced what to expect as a customer. In particular, they addressed the expected number of the events and pricing. Eddie Hearn, promoter of Matchroom Sport, announced his stable and invited each fighter to speak on their behalf.
DAZN will feature 70 events; 55 of which are exclusively aired on the streaming app. These events will include both boxing and MMA bouts. September 15 will kick off the project when Alexander Povetkin challenges IBF, WBA and WBO unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
The price is set to $9.99 USD per month and will come with a 30-day trial period.
Other events that were announced include the following:
October 6 in Chicago, Illinois, the following will be featured:
- Jessie Vargas, Demetrius Andrade and Jarrell Miller will all be on the card against opponents yet to be determined.
- Katie Taylor will defend her IBF and WBA lightweight titles (if she defeats Kimberly Connor July 28) against Cindy Serrano. Cindy is the older sister of arguably top three pound for pound women’s boxer Amanda Serrano.
- IBF lightweight champion Artur Beterbiev will defend his title against the undefeated Commonwealth and BBBofC champion Callum Johnson.
October 20 in California, the following will be featured:
- WBA super bantamweight champion Daniel Roman will defend his title against WBC International champion Gavin McDonnell. Gavin is the twin brother of former 2-time bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell.
- WBO junior welterweight champion Maurice Hooker will make his first title defense. The match is rumored to be against his mandatory, Alex Saucedo.
Also of important note, there was the acquisition of three highly touted amateurs of the NY area who will make their professional debut on DAZN.
When the boxing portion of the event came to a close, outbursts between Miller and Joshua erupted throughout the conference room. It is unclear what the issue consisted of, however, Joshua was adamant that Miller kept disrespecting him. Obscenities were hurled back and fourth and at one point both men were attempting to pursue one another.
If fight fans recall, Joshua/Miller was one of the fights Hearn was “semi-negotiating” during the Joshua/Wilder debacle. He even once stated that the fight had a big possibility of happening. Fight fans may not want to acknowledge this, but just as we warned our readers that Povetkin may be the guy who gets the shot at Joshua before Wilder, Miller may do the same.

The negotiations should’ve been riding off that big win for Wilder vs Joshua, and the win for Joshua over Parker! All 4 were UNDEFEATED, and the Heavyweights were making a huge comeback at the moment. Everything is about timing, and moments that burn in the fans memories for lifetimes!
