Oscar De La Hoya Support Davis Vs Schofield By The End Of 2024
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya is on board with making a fight featuring his fighter lightweight contender Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield (16-0, 12KO) and Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis (10-0, 7KO).
These two fighters traded verbal shots on social media for most of 2023. After pitching a shutout against Haskell Rhodes, Kid Austin mentioned Davis’ name mixed in with other prospects.
The Businessman looking toward the future called for a showdown with Schofield in Las Vegas in 2024.
THE AGREEMENT
Well, Their wish seems like it’s going to be granted, as De La Hoya agreed to make the fight at the end of 2024.
“Kid Austin at the end of this year. I got my boy Oscar right here saying me and Kid Austin at the end of this year. Let’s make it happen.”
Keyshawn Davis
“End of this year, we’ll do it big.”
Oscar De La Hoya
They even agreed that Vegas should be the location to host the fight, as Davis’s previous tweet suggested. There is a long way to go before the end of the year arrives, and anything can happen. However, fans have to like the fact that the approach to making fights like this seems to be changing.
In his last outing, Schofield ran over Ricardo Torres and quickly called out former IBF junior lightweight champion Joseph Diaz. In addition, he is ranked number four by the WBA.
The Businessman is coming off a sensational victory over two-divisional champion Jose Pedraza. He put on a performance that supports everyone’s belief that a world title shot is only a matter of time.
It would be a good fight to close out the year, providing neither fighter suffers a defeat.
