Sergey Kovalev hits the headlines again!

36 year-old former unified light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev seems to be in a “free-fall” over the last eight months as he now hits the headlines over an arrest for a DUI charge (DWI in some states)!

PREVIOUS TROUBLE

The Russian power-puncher still has a case pending from an assault on a Jamie Fontz and her dog that took place in June of 2019. Apparently, he forced himself upon her while in her home. As she struggled to free herself, her dog attempted to come to her defense.

At that moment, according to Fontz, Kovalev kicked her dog in the chest. He then turned his focus on her as he punched her in the face with a “closed fist.” He would leave, but was found hiding in some bushes close to her home the next morning which prompted Fontz to call the police and led to his arrest.

The following month, he was removed from a plan bound from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles for attempting to kiss and grope a women who sat next to him on the flight. Once she refused his advances, the former champion threw money at her.

After alerting the airline staff, the Russian was immediately escorted off the plane.

Now, three months after making the biggest payday of his eleven year career in a lose to four-division champion Canelo Alvarez, Kovalev strikes again!

After being stopped by a Los Angeles state trooper, Kovalev was found to be intoxicated and detained. This is just another addition to his wrap sheet of trouble.

At the moment it is unclear if he is contemplating retirement. However if he isn’t, he has a lot of work to do in terms of understanding his faults and undergoing a considerable character make-over.

If he continues on this “free-fall”, we could be seeing the end of Kovalev soon!
