Floyd Mayweather Leaves Door Open on Facing Another MMA Fighter!

Being the global super star that he is, it is not surprising that rumors and conjecture often surround Floyd “Money” Mayweather (50-0, 27 KO’s). Just recently a new round of speculation was drummed up when rumors began circulating that Money was thinking about coming back to face Adrien “The Problem” Broner (33-4-1, 24 KO’s).

Before talks of the theoretical fight could get too loud, first Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe debunked the notion. Then later Mayweather himself officially put the rumors to rest. He made it painfully clear that he was not going to face Broner or any other boxer, in the ring.

Although, while Mayweather is not willing to face another professional boxer in the ring he didn’t say that he wouldn’t face anyone in the ring.

BOXERS, NO! MMA GUY? MAYBE

During his last official in ring appearance, on August 27, 2017, Money went head-to-head with MMA sensation “The Notorious” Connor McGregor. The two realized that by combining their massive followings they could produce one colossal event. That is exactly what they did! Following ten exciting rounds Mayweather collected his 27th victory by stoppage.

Since that fight nearly three full years ago, aside from a 2018 exhibition contested in Japan, he has been happily enjoying his second retirement. According to him the life he is leading has left him dripping with contentment.

However, at the end of the day, Mayweather is a businessman. If the right deal came along, maybe just maybe we might see him plying his trade in the ring once again.

“So even with the fight with Connor McGregor, it was smart on my behalf and it was smart on his behalf. Meaning he said, ‘you know what even if I can or can’t beat Floyd Mayweather let me share the ring with him so that I can make more money than any MMA guy and any other fighter except for Floyd Mayweather’.

“So even if we did it again, its entertainment and its business. Once again I’m saying I’m not boxing no more boxers! None!”

So while it’s beyond clear that he has no intention on boxing a boxer, who knows if McGregor or any other MMA star may be able to temp the former boxing kingpin. Yet, for the time being, it appears that other than keeping in shape Mayweather will keep his gloves hung on the hook of retirement.
